Love, By the Power of The Gospel

Ever have one of those “A HA” moments when you realized the problem you have WITH another person is, in actuality, a problem  you have WITHIN yourself?

It’s rough, isn’t it?

Oh I long to be a kind, compassionate, have it all together Christian woman. But I can sit still and long to be something until my feet go numb and if I never put anything in to action, I’m not going to get anywhere!

We have this amazing tool that conquers malice (ill-will), deceit, hypocrisy, envy, slander [see 1 Peter]… the GOSPEL. The power of the gospel – it’s not just words on a page! The gospel is a two edged sword. A tool for our battle in looking less and less like us and more and more like Jesus.
When I find myself jealous, defiant, dishonest… I have fallen out of love – love for the church, love for His people… When I sit in a mess of self-pity and pride… I’ve put myself on a pedestal and forgotten to look first to those around me.

We are the same… we are all children of God, saved by grace, washed in mercy… bathed in an unending unimaginable love.

So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:1-11

And so, with the POWER OF THE GOSPEL, I choose to live my life in LOVE…Wrapped in the reminder of a same mind, a same love, a selfless ambition, and a heart of humility.
